Importance of Volunteering In The Community

Gandharv Can you start by sharing your personal journey and experiences with volunteering in the community?
What initially inspired you to get involved?

I was in a family business. I started my journey in Salesforce Technology in April 2023. Along with learning Technical skills, I also began attending local community events in the NCR region.
Additionally, I attended the “INDIADREAMIN” community conference, which was one of the first
large-scale community conferences I attended. Afterward, I learned about “muledreamin”
and “Women In Tech Dreamin” and applied for volunteer positions with them. What inspired me to
get involved was the opportunity to gain knowledge, make new connections, and meet inspiring
people in the community.

(2) How does volunteering contribute to building a sense of community and fostering social connections?
Volunteering fosters social connections by uniting people with shared interests and values,
deepening their connections, promoting idea-sharing, and engaging them in achieving common targets,
ultimately strengthening the sense of community.

(3) What advice would you give to someone who is considering volunteering for the first time but is
unsure where to start?
The first piece of advice I want to give to someone who wants to start volunteering for the first time
is to explore the volunteering opportunities available in their community or elsewhere and plan
accordingly before applying. It’s important to have a clear vision when Onboarding on this process,
and if possible, ask yourself these important questions: why, what and how. Volunteering
is a dedicated and consistent commitment that demands significant time and effort, so choose wisely
and then apply.

Gandharv : How can businesses and organizations encourage their employees to participate in community volunteer activities, and why is this important for corporate social responsibility?

Community is a power in itself. It represents an ecosystem that can drive further
development and productivity. To motivate their employees, businesses and organizations should
incorporate workshops, programs, or events that emphasize the significance of volunteer activities.
This is also crucial for corporate social responsibility, as it showcases a dedication to social
impact, enhances reputation, and involves employees in meaningful community contributions.

Gandharv: What’s the best way to find and contact you going forward?

Avinash:

(5) How do you see the role of technology and social media in promoting and coordinating volunteer
activities in the digital age?
Technology and social media play a crucial role in promoting and coordinating volunteer activities
by facilitating communication, outreach, expanding networks, providing quick access to information,
making it easier for volunteers to connect and engage in the digital age.

(6) Finally, what message or motivation would you like to share with our listeners to inspire them to
get involved in volunteering and make a positive impact in their communities?
I believe in the phrase, “Community is not because of me, but I am definitely because of the community.”
So, yeah, it carries a profound message, and I simply want to convey it to people out there. Community
volunteering entails dedicated work with many associated responsibilities. It serves as a true example
of teamwork, trust, togetherness, emotional connection, and belief in each other. If you’re considering
volunteering, keep these essential values in mind and engage in work that can inspire others.
